Carbery Board Meeting 30th May   04/06/2019

SW Junior Board Meeting

A meeting of the SW Junior Board was held on Thursday, May 30th, in the GAA Pavilion, Dunmanway and the main points to emerge were –

  • Affiliation fees are still due from some clubs and must be returned immediately.

  • Cheques for Carbery Coaching (Flag Day) are now due.

  • The draws for the RCM Tarmacadam Junior A and B hurling championships, Rounds 2 and 3, were made but the quarter-final draws were held over until the next meeting.

  • Dates were put on Round 2 of the Bandon Co-op junior A football championship, for the last week in June and the first week in July.

  • The dates for the finals of the junior football and hurling leagues, Divisions 1 and 2, were extended by a fortnight, to the 14th/15th July, in appreciation of the co-operation of the clubs with the Carbery senior football and hurling teams, when a number of league games had to be postponed.

  • At present, GPO, Paudie Crowley, is giving coaching courses in the clubs and the response has been very favourable. A small number of clubs still haven’t contacted the GPO to organise sessions and they are asked to do so as soon as possible.

  • Whats App is no longer recognised by the GAA as a suitable  means of communication with clubs members and clubs are asked to investigate methods that are approved by the association.

  • The Board is to undertake a revision of its byelaws and three board officers plus two club delegates will form the sub-committee to undertake that project.

  • The Board is currently in talks with two clubs as regards the provision of an all-weather pitch to serve games in the division.

  • Cups and shields won in 2018 must be returned immediately as some are in need of repair. Clubs, businesses or individuals willing to donate new trophies are asked to contact the rúnaí.

Should you require additional information about any of the topics discussed on the night, please contact your Club secretary or Carbery Board Delegate.
