Padraigh Griffin - A Clonakilty Legend   27/10/2022

Padraigh Griffin -  A Clonakilty Legend

It was with heartfelt sadness that we learned of the sudden passing of former Clonakilty footballer, Padraigh Griffin. A Clonakilty legend and one of the greatest to ever wear the red and green. He won two county senior medals in 1996 and 2009 but it was his heroic, classy performances on the pitch that thrilled all football followers.

He graced the playing fields of West Cork and far beyond and was as admired and liked by opponents as he was by his own team-mates. A thorough gentle soul on and off the field, he left us with a legacy of wonderful memories. His going at such an early age is a huge loss to football in general, to his club, to the town of Clonakilty but especially to his wife, Debbie, little twin sons Jack and Alex, brother Mark and extended family members.

May the green sod rest lightly on your grave and may you rest peacefully, Padraig. Suaimhneas síoraí agus míle buíochas.

Deepest sympathy from the Carbery GAA Board.
