Ballinascarthy  0-4   Oliver Plunketts 0-11
On  Saturday last the Ballinascarthy were defeated by near neighbours Oliver Plunketts in the first round of the Junior Football championship at Kilbrittain. The game was played where conditions were very difficult on a wet evening and a strong wind blowingfrom the harbour view side of the pitch.
Over the first half Plunketts eased in to a comfortable half time lead of seven points to two with some excellent free taking from Kevin Coffey and two points that were worked up the field from the kick outs. While in response Ballinascarthy had two points from Patrick O Sullivan Ricky O Flynn.
In the second half Ballinascarthy introduced the Dineen brothers Kieran and John and made positional changes to the team. For the first ten minutes Ballinascarthy played very well both in defence and in attack but could not registar the scores so badly needed.  Plunketts defence at all times coped confidently with the Ballinascarthy play and was the contributary reason for their continued dominance as to they went to score a four further points. Cilan Cullinane added two points for Ballinascarthy one from play and one from a free to leave the final score Ol Plunketts 0-11 Ballinascarthy 0-4.
