Plunketts Junior A hurlers played O Donovan Rossa in the Junior A hurling championship on Friday evening last July 29th. The game was played in Ballinacarriga on a dry & calm evening perfect for hurling. Plunketts emerged with a win by 2-16 to 2-5, and now go on to face a tough challenge in their opposition, Clonakilty, in the semi final of the Junior A West Cork hurling championship.
This Sunday August 7th Plunketts face Castlehaven in the Junior A West Cork football championship. That game is to be played in Clonakilty at 3:30pm. As usual please check locally or check the fixtures link at http://plunketts.cork.gaa.ie/ as fixtures may vary nearer to the scheduled date.
Plunketts weekly lotto draw took place on Monday August 1st in the Four Winds Bar, Ahiohill with the jackpot at €2400 on the night. There was no winner of the jackpot on the night. The numbers drawn were 4, 10 & 12. Spot prizes were drawn also on the night. Collette Condon c/o The Four Winds Bar won €20 in the in house draw. From the lotto entries that night, the following have each won a spot prize of €20: Dermot, Norma & Seán Óg c/o seller Dermot Hurley; John Fitzpatrick, Rosscarbery; Nicky Walsh, Ahiohill; Keith Mears, Ahiohill. Next week's draw is due to take place in the Four Winds Bar, Ahiohill on Monday August 8th, with the jackpot at €2500 and I hope to have the results next week.
