after extra time against Carbery

City side progress to meet Muskerry

               SEANDÚN 1-25  CARBERY 0-25 (aet)

Having been pegged back late in normal time, Seandún responded well in extra time to take victory over Carbery in Tuesday’s Co-op SuperStores Divisions/Colleges Hurling Championship game in Ovens.

The three-point lead that had been wiped out to force the additional 20 minutes was soon restored as Ruairí Quirke points and Seán Daly added two more and they would hold that cushion for the bulk of the additional period, despite good Carbery fees from Mike Cahalane and Shane Murnane.

Ultimately, the south-west division could not find a goal and Seandún – competing for the first time since 2021 – progress to a meeting with Muskerry in August.

In normal time, Carbery had made the early running, with Darren O’Donovan a stand-out, scoring four points from play as they amassed a 0-7 to 0-2 lead by the end of the first quarter.

Seandún did have an early goal chance as Seán Daly forced a turnover and tested Shane Collins, but even at that early stage Seandún were betraying the signs of wastefulness that would result in 19 wides over the hour.

Carbery fashioned a goal opportunity as Jamie Lucey was denied by Conor Harrington but as their scoring rate dropped, Seandún came back into the game. Frees from Calvin O’Donovan and a nice Shane O’Donovan point were followed by a good Dylan Barrett individual score to bring them to within a goal – in the midst of that, impressive defending from Carbery’s Seámus Crowley had prevented a Liam Harrington effort.

It was 0-12 to 0-9 for Carbery at the interval, but Seandún got on top on the restart and were level by the 42nd minute as Tomás O’Neill’s pass allowed Barrett to find the net with a low shot.

A second goal almost followed immediately, Collins saving well from Seandún sub David Malone, but despite some cheap wides, the city side hit the front for the first time through Daly.

By the 53rd minute, another from Daly, sandwiched by two from Shane O’Donovan, had them three ahead, 1-16 to 0-16, and they were still three in front as the game moved into injury time.

However, they missed opportunities to make the game save and points from Carbery subs Liam Dooley and Denis Collins closed the gap before Cahalane levelled with a 65th-minute free, despite Seandún protestations over the amount of time added on.

Scorers for Seandún: D Barrett 1-4 (0-1 sl), S Daly (0-1 f), R Quirke (0-2 f, 0-1 65), S O’Donovan (0-2 f, 0-1 65) 0-5 each, C O’Donovan 0-4 (0-3 f), L Harrington, D Malone 0-1 each.

CARBERY OVERCOME DUHALLOW IN PREMIER 1 HURLING LEAGUE

CARBERY UNDER 15 HURLERS HARD EARNED WIN AGAINST DUHALLOW IN  PREMIER 1 LEAGUE

Carbery Under 15 hurlers continued on their winning way with a hard-earned 4-8 to 2-12 win over Duhallow at Millstreet Town Park on Thursday, 11th June.Conditions were far from perfect with a continuous mist falling throughout the match together with a breeze blowing straight down the pitch.Carbery were unable to play Jack Allen (Newcestown) and Oisín McCabe (Owen Gaels), who have been promoted to the Cork Squad.
With the aid of the elements, Carbery started on a high note when Conor Cullinane netted in the second minute and soon after midfielder, Aidan Morgan, slotted over a free.Duhallow, however, dominated the opening 10 minutes, as Mark Cronin, operating at centre-half-forward, fired over four points, with full-forward, Michael Farrissey, adding another minor. In the 13th minute, wing-back, Eoin Bourke, made a spectacular run through the Duhallow defence and crashed the ball to the back of the net.Conor Cullinane then collected a 65 and sent over the bar to leave Carbery ahead 2-3 to 0-5 after 15 minutes.
Carbery drove on regardless and two good points from Jack Twomey plus another from Jake Burke put them further ahead.A scrambled goal and two points brought Duhallow back into the game.Conor Cullinane then turned the game on its head when he tore through for two brilliant goals.Duhallow replied with three further points to leave the half-time score:Carbery 4-6 ; Duhallow 1-8 after a most entertaining opening – half.
Duhallow dominated the second-half for long periods as they sought to reduce Carbery’s lead. They added three points in the third-quarter, with Eoin Burke replying with a minor from a free for Carbery.Time and again, the Carbery rearguard repulsed anything that Duhallow could throw at them, with goalkeeper Eoghan Holland making a series of outstanding saves.Conor Cullinane lifted the siege with a point after 26 minutes, while a late goal and a point brought Duhallow to within two points of their opponents.Try as they might, they were unable to break down the barriers of resistance put up by Carbery defence in the remaining minutes.Carbery held out for a famous victory, winning by 4-8 to 2-12

CARBERY UNDER 15 HURLERS DEFEAT MIDLETON IN PREMIER 1 LEAGUE

CARBERY UNDER 15 HURLERS CONTINUE WINNING WAY
    Carbery 6-17 Midleton 1-10

Carbery continued their fine form in the county U.15 premier 1 hurling league when registering their
third win in four outings with a decisive win over Midleton in Newcestown on Thursday evening last.
This is the first time Carbery entered an U.15 team in the premier league and having to field without
players from top clubs Ibane Gaels and Bandon, who are already in premier, it was feared that the team
would be out of its depth in premier 1. The very opposite has proved the case as the West Cork lads have
taken the scalps of hurling teams Blackrock, Glen Rovers and now Midleton in convincing style. Adding
to their difficulty is that two of their best players who impressed in earlier games and were promoted to
the Cork U.15 squad are now not allowed to play with the Carbery team. After this overwhelming defeat
of Midleton there is now the danger of the team losing more of their best players.
Whatever about the future, this was a tremendous display by Carbery, especially as they lost their best
forward, Conor Cullinane, through injury after only fifteen minutes. Cullinane had already registered 1-1
before his departure, dominating at centre forward. With the breeze Carbery were well in the ascendency
at that stage, leading by 2-5 to 0-2. The first goal from Cullinane arrived in the third minute and the
second from outstanding full forward, Jack Allen, in the 12th minute. The points came from Allen, two
from play and one from a free, Cullinane and Calvin O’Brien. Midleton had only two points on the board,
from Eoin Magan and Zac Walsh, free.
Scoring slowed in the second quarter as Carbery recovered from Cullinane’s departure and Midleton
came more into the game with the use of a sweeper. Carbery had further points from O’Brien, 2, Allen,
free, and Jack Twomey. Midleton had a solitary point from Caoilfhionn O’Connell in response, 2-9 to 0-3
at half time.
Carbery faced the breeze in the second half, but there was no slacking off and four points in a row
from Allen, including three from frees as the over-run Midleton backs resorted to fouling, put them firmly
in the driver’s seat. Zac Walsh had Midleton’s opening point of the half but when wing back, Aidan
Morgan, struck for the first of his two goals for Carbery in the 40th minute, the game was as good as over.
Midleton picked up the pace then with Andrew McSweeney thundering into the game registering two
points followed by a goal in the 43rd minute. However, the staunch Carbery full back line was not to be
breached again with Seán Evans outstanding in the centre, well flanked by Dylan Barry and Killian
O’Sullivan. A big plus was the classy performance of Tadhg Kelly at midfield, well assisted by Calvin
O’Brien. The third quarter finished with Carbery’s fourth goal from Brehon O’Mahony and it was 4-13 to
1-6 entering the final quarter.
Both teams emptied their benches and it was Carbery who still finished stronger with goals from
Morgan and sub, MacDara O’Mahony, plus points from Allen, two frees, and O’Mahony. Midleton
replied with points from Zac Walsh, two from frees and one from play, and Andrew McSweeney. A
highlight of the closing minutes was a wonderful triple save from Carbery goalkeeper, Eoghan Holland.
Final score was 6-17 to 1-10.
Scorers: Carbery – Jack Allen (7f) 1-9, Aidan Morgan 2-0, Conor Cullinane and MacDara O’Mahony
1-1 each, Brehon O’Mahony 1-0, Calvin O’Brien 0-3, Jack Twomey and Tadhg Kelly 0-1 each. Midleton

Sam Mulcahy.
Referee: Olan O’Donovan, Clonakilty.

Our Star: Seán Evans at full back and Jack Allen at full forward stood out for Carbery but the classy,
hard-working display of midfielder, Tadhg Kelly, earns our vote.

CARBERY UNDER 15 HURLERS DEFEAT GLEN ROVERS IN REBEL ÓG PREMIER LEAGUE

CARBERY DEFEAT GLEN ROVERS IN ROUND 3 OF PREMIER UNDER 15 HURLING LEAGUE

Carbery defeated Glen Rovers 5-23 to 5-17 in the Premier 1 Under 15 Hurling League at the Glen Field on Thursday, 14th May, 2026.This was a superb exhibition of hurling from two top class teams, with Carbery just edging it at the end.
The West Cork standard-bearers played with the breeze in the opening half and after 10 minutes they led 1-4 to 0-1.Jack Allen cracked home a penalty early on, while Conor Cullinane was on fire, firing over the four points. On 14 minutes, Jack Allen scored goal number two but Glen Rovers began finding the range in the second quarter, sending over a flurry of points.Carbery responded in kind and then in the 26th minute, a line ball was cut in superbly by Oisín McCabe from all of 70 metres which deceived the goalkeeper and ended up in the Glen Rovers net.The Glen got through for a goal to leave the half-time score: Carbery 3-11 ; Glen Rovers 1-7.
The Glen came into the game big time in the third quarter and began to reduce the Carbery lead with an early goal, followed by four points. The mercurial Jack Allen grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck and two goals midway through the half eased Carbery’s worries. They piled on the pressure with some wonderful points from substitutes Jack Hegarty, Ben Twohig, and Alan Minehane, while Oisín McCabe chipped in with a few minors as well.
The Glen were far from finished and a twenty-one yard free ended up in the net, followed by another but the Carbery half-back line were superb as they cleared ball after ball under intense pressure.Three further points from the Glen forwards closed the gap but Carbery held out in a welter of excitement to win, 5-23 to 5-17.

Carbery met Ballincollig in Round 2 of the Premier 1 Under 15 Hurling League at Newcestown on Thursday, 30th April, 2026.The Mid-Cork side are probably the best team in this Group, having won the County Under 14 title last year. They started strongly against the breeze and had a couple of points on the scoreboard before Jack Allen opened Carbery’s account with a pointed free.
A goal by Cillian O’Donovan put Ballincollig further ahead but three points by Oisín McCabe brought Carbery back into the match.A second Ballincollig goal  left them 2-6 to 0-4 ahead but in the run up to half-time, four pointed frees by Jack Allen and another by McCabe brought Carbery to within 3 points of their opponents.A goal on the stroke of half-time left Ballincollig leading 3-6 to 0-9.
Carbery came into the game big-time in the second-quarter and the standard of hurling was of the highest order.
Ballincollig continued to set the pace and led 4-11 to 0-11 at the three-quarter stage. Two late goals by Jack Allen and substitute Daniel Cronin brought the curtain down on a highly entertaining game, with the final score:
